Off-Beat Applications

Along with human motion activities like skiing or skateboarding his would cover the numerous odd and unthinkable speed timing applications. Some of the more remote I've encountered are lava flow, humming bird mating and water hose speed. Another common inquiry is for testing machinery speeds. Some were in sporting applications like pitching machines or in manufacturing to time the mechanized parts.

Human Motion

The human body is not the best reflective surface for radar guns. However, using a unit with a strong target acquisition time, it's fairly routine to be able to pick up fast motion activities like skiing, skating, biking, etc. A very helpful suggestion is the possibility of wearing something highly reflective in your clothing or attached to the body if safety permits. Due expect a fair number of misreads a the unit will not pickup the targets 100% of the time

Mechanized Motion

There are 2 types of mechanized motion for machinery. The first has projectiles or levers moving from point A to point B. A fairly easy read except that the radar could also pick up rotary motion of the internal mechanics or fans. It's something that takes the right kind of filtering in the unit and a little unit position adjustment The second type is a fast repetitive motion of a machine part. This is really a hit and miss proposition. Every environment is different and the rental is accept with the the knowledge it may not read your application. I'll do my best to try and give you an honest assessment before your rental.

Natural Phenomena

As stated above, there have been some pretty radical uses for radar units. If an object moves at least a few feet it probably can be timed. I'll give an honest assessment of the timing potential based on information you provide.
